History of DJI Agriculture – from the MG-1 to the Agras T55 and T100

Published: 17 November 2026
DJI Agras is one of the most widely used ranges of agricultural drones – according to DJI, more than 600,000 DJI Agriculture drones are operating worldwide. In just over 10 years it has progressed from the 10-litre MG-1 to the Agras T100 with LiDAR and the new T55 (2026). Have a look at the timeline and what it means when choosing a drone.
Timeline
Up to 2020 – launches in China first; from 2021 – global launches.
| Year | Model / event | What it changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2012 | DJI begins work in agriculture | start of R&D |
| 2015 | DJI Agriculture + Agras MG-1 | 8 rotors, 10 l tank, spraying resumes where it left off after refilling |
| 2016 | MG-1S | automatic and manual flight, obstacle radar |
| 2017 | MG-1P / MG-1P RTK | FPV camera, field planning without walking the boundary, granule spreading |
| 2018 | T16 | modular design, plant health analysis |
| 2019/2020 | T20 (2019 China, 2020 worldwide), P4 Multispectral, spreader 2.0 | higher payload, precision agriculture |
| 2021 | T10 / T30 | 30 l tank, orchards and large fields |
| 2022 | T40 / T20P | dual centrifugal atomisers, spraying and spreading in one system |
| 2023 | T50 / T25 (T60 in China) | 40 l spraying / 50 kg spreading, phased-array radars and 3D cameras |
| 2024 | T100 (launched in China) | up to 100 kg payload, LiDAR, AI and AR functions |
| 2025 | T100, T70P, T25P globally | approx. 2× more productive than its predecessor in high-volume spraying |
| Dec 2025 | FlyCart 100 globally | transport drone with up to 100 kg payload – logistics in orchards, mountains and across rivers |
| Apr 2026 | FlyCart 200 and T200 (China only for now) | up to 200 kg payload per drone; T200 – agricultural version, 2 drones together up to 360 kg; possibly coming to other markets soon? |
| Jul 2026 | T55 + T100 Dual Battery globally | T55: 50 l spraying, 55 kg spreading, 40 kg lifting capacity, new millimetre-wave radar; T100 with two batteries – longer working time |
What this means for farmers
- Productivity: from roughly 3–4 ha/h (MG-1) to more than ten and up to over 20 ha/h with the newest models – depending on application rate, field layout and logistics.
- Safety: from a single radar to full 360° awareness of the surroundings – for flying near trees, power lines and in orchards.
- Versatility: spraying, spreading, fertilising, Trichogramma release, shading treatments, transport.
- Mature market: available parts, service and training – lower investment risk.

| T50 | 40 l | 75 l / 50 kg | farms of 100–500 ha, service providers |
| T55 (2026) | 50 l | 80 l / 55 kg | service providers, orchards and large fields – single-person operation |
| T70P | 70 l | 100 l / 70 kg | service providers, grower groups |
| T100 | 100 l | 150 l / 100 kg | very large areas, seeding and spreading |
Coming soon: FlyCart 200 and T200. In April 2026, DJI unveiled two heavy-lift transport drones in China: the FlyCart 200 (logistics) and the T200 (agricultural version). Each drone can carry up to 200 kg, and the T200 paired with a second drone can carry up to 360 kg. The launch date for the South African market is not yet known – we will let you know as soon as they join our offer.
